Hygiene

It is important no matter where you are, whom you are with or what you do to concentrate on good hygiene. From the time we are infants to the time we are seniors, it has been passed down to us from generation to generation to keep our bodies clean and project a good self-image. First impressions are lasting impressions and you don’t want your first impression at a clothing optional facility to be “Oh that person looked or smelled so bad”. You want your first impression to be something like “That person was nice, kind, funny, or intelligent.” When you are at a clothing optional facility, you want people to meet you, not your smell.

Hygiene is simple. Keep your hair and body clean and odor free. Use soaps, gels, body washes on your skin along with shampoo’s and conditioners in your hair. It doesn’t matter what type or brand of products you use, it only matters that you use them. Keeping your body clean and groomed is a common courtesy to others. In the nudist/naturist community being natural is of great importance however, body odor or bad breath is not looked at favorably.

It is common practice to shower before entering any pool, hot tub or sauna. Showering helps eliminate body odors, loose hair and oils from lotions and moisturizers from gathering in the water, building up on the floors or walls of pools and hot tubs or in other common areas.

Practice good dental hygiene. Brushing your teeth twice a day eliminates plaque build up, which eliminates bad breath. Using mouthwash and flossing your teeth also helps reduce unwanted mouth odors. When you are enjoying a conversation with someone within his or her personal space it is best to have fresh breath. Brushing your teeth and getting regular cleanings is a key to good dental health.

Bare feet are in need of attention. Hot surfaces can scorch the pads of the feet, while hot sandy beaches can act as a pumas stone grating the tender sides of the foot creating sores and in some cases causing blisters. The feet are often taken granted. We run and jump and play. We go barefoot and hold little or no regard to our feet until it is too late. Keep your feet clean and dry. Try to apply moisturizers to your feet before bed. Allow them to soak up the oils to keep the skin soft and elastic. Don’t forget to apply sun block to your feet along with the rest of your body. You can wear flip-flops or hiking shoes to protect your feet, depending on the activities you are planning. Use antifungal foot spray to keep your feet from sweating and developing a foul odor.

Keep yourself clean. Use deodorants or antiperspirants if necessary and remember that perfume and cologne is not designed to mask odor, it is designed to enhance the bodies natural chemical balance. Enjoy the nudist/naturist lifestyle. Be free of clothing and unwanted body odors.
